Ingredients
4 oz beef sirloin, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas, and carrots)
2 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional)
1/2 tsp sesame oil (optional)
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
1 green onion, sliced (optional, for garnish)
Optional: 1 tbsp oyster sauce or hoisin sauce for added flavor
Optional: Cooked cauliflower rice or zoodles (zucchini noodles) for serving
Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients:
Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain for tenderness.
Wash and chop the mixed vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
Mince the garlic and grate the fresh ginger if using.
Heat the Olive Oil:
Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering.
Cook the Beef:
Add the thinly sliced beef to the pan in a single layer.
Cook the beef for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is browned on all sides.
Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
Add the mixed vegetables to the pan.
Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
If using heartier vegetables like broccoli and carrots, you may want to add them first and cook for a few minutes before adding quicker-cooking vegetables like bell peppers and snap peas.
Combine with Beef:
Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables.
Pour in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and, if using, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce or hoisin sauce.
Stir well to coat the beef and vegetables evenly. If desired, add 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil for extra flavor.
Cook Until Done:
Continue to stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes, until everything is heated through, and the flavors are well combined.
Serve:
Transfer the beef stir fry to a serving dish.
Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Serve immediately over cooked cauliflower rice or zoodles for a low-carb option.
Tips
For added flavor, you can marinate the beef in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for 30 minutes before cooking.
Adjust the amount of soy sauce and other seasonings to taste.
To prevent the beef from becoming tough, avoid overcooking it.
It should be just browned and slightly pink in the center before removing it from the pan.
