Introduction

Treat your family to a tasty and satisfying Crispy Chicken Burger! This kid-approved recipe features juicy chicken breasts coated in a crunchy breading, topped with delicious fixings, and served on a soft bun. Perfect for a weekend lunch or a fun family dinner, these burgers will quickly become a household favorite.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 4 hamburger buns

  • Optional toppings: lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, pickles, cheese, condiments

Cooking Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness (about ½-inch) using a meat mallet or rolling pin.

  2. Set up a dredging station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  3. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip it into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken in the seasoned panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat with about ¼-inch of oil. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

  5. Transfer the cooked chicken breasts to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  6. Toast the hamburger buns, if desired, and spread your preferred condiments on the bottom bun.

  7. Assemble the Crispy Chicken Burgers by placing the cooked chicken breast on the bottom bun, followed by your choice of toppings and the top bun.

Serving Suggestions

Cooking Tips

  • For an oven-baked version, place the breaded chicken breasts on a greased baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  • Use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts for a juicier and more flavorful option.

  • Add spices like cayenne pepper or chili powder to the breading for a spicy kick.
